Can you share more about yourself and what you are doing?

I’m Ida and I’m a certified fitness coach and a Women’s Best Athlete. I’m also a dog mama of two furry brothers – Urho and Sisu.

When did your journey start? Was there a certain event or situation after which you found your passion for fitness and decided this was your path?

I used to compete in synchronized skating which was pretty much my whole life from a kid to early adulthood, and after retiring I needed new challenges and goals. Quite soon I found myself in the gym where it was fantastic to see how I was able to add more weight to the exercises week by week and got so much stronger than I ever thought I could be. I was absolutely hooked and now, 15 years later, I’m immensely grateful to get to work in the field of fitness.

As a former synchronized skater, did the discipline from being an athlete transfer easily into your fitness journey?

I think so, as I was used to some ridiculous amounts of work. The level of discipline and dedication in ice skating was incredible – it was practically all I did every day on top of going to school. So absolutely I think it taught me great work ethics which has been super useful in my fitness journey where consistency is key!

You have a training and nutrition guide app. Tell us what your motivation was for starting this and what you love most about your community?

I have always wanted to share concrete advice and tips about all things fitness in a way that is very accessible to everyone. The first thing I did back in the day was to start a fitness blog in Finnish, which kind of blew up and became a huge success in my country. I really loved doing that but after some years alongside with fitness coaching nationally I felt like I wanted to do something that is available not only in Finland but for everyone internationally. Idajemina.app has now been available for over a year and wow this community has absolutely blown my mind!

It’s a safe place where we can be ourselves, go crazy and have fun while making things happen. People are truly amazing and such beasts! I get to train and communicate with my team literally from all over the world through my live workouts which is a privilege that I’m so grateful for. We are all there together to get after some of the most important things in life; to be more healthy, happy and energized!

What are the 3 best points of advice you would give to people on their fitness journey?

1. First off; take action, just start moving and don’t overthink it.

2. Don’t put your life aside to reach your goals. It’s all about consistency and balance.

3. Work out in a way that makes you happy, whether it’s weight lifting, body weight training, running, or a mixture of them all. Doing what’s fun makes the consistency part easier.

Tell us more about your workouts and training, what does your weekly routine look like, and do you mix this up throughout the year?

I train 4-5 times a week and mix between weight training and body-weight training. Nowadays I workout mostly at home. I love intense but short workouts the most. As much as I love working out, I don’t like to spend hours and hours at the gym but rather do everything with high energy and quality so I have time to do other things in life as well.

Do you follow a specific diet? What about your favorite treats?

I would say not really since I’m super flexible with my diet, but I eat vegan friendly. It has been wonderful and you can totally achieve anything you want with plant power. My favorite treats at the moment are nachos and salsa! I loooove Mexican food!

Fun question: what’s your favorite exercise to do using a booty band?

Donkey kicks never disappoint! If you cannot feel the burn when doing this exercise, hold your leg on the top position for 3-5 seconds. Works every time!

What are your favorite Women’s Best nutrition products? When do you use them and why?

1. Vegan Protein. I love all the flavors and drink it with my breakfast and after my workouts to increase my protein intake.
2. Creatine. It makes me stronger and improves my performance which ultimately means better results.
3. Pre-workout booster. It gives me that extra energy right before hitting the workout. I love it especially when working out in the morning.

What is your favorite Women’s Best collection, in what color and why?

Ahh I love Camo collection in all colors! The fabric is just fantastic – flexible but thick. Leggings are definitely squat proof and super stretchy so your curves will be popping!

Lastly, you decided to collab with Women’s Best. Why did you choose to be part of the community?

I got a good vibe from Women’s Best right away when they first contacted me year’s ago. I fell in love with the empowering message the brand is all about! Everyone is so great in the Women’s Best team – real people! We are one big family and it has been so great to work and grow together for so many years now!
