“BAKE“ your Face!!

If you thought “baking“ or “cooking“ is just for the kitchen, think again. Baking is a highlighting technique, which has been used in the drag community for years. It refers to letting translucent powder sit on your face for five to 10 minutes, which allows the heat from your face to set your base make up (foundation + concealer), and then dusting it off your face, leaving you with a poreless-looking, flawless finish. It lasts longer, without the need to reapply powder constantly.

What you need:

–   Concealer
–   (Ultrafinely milled) Translucent loose powder (baking does not work with pressed powder) which is a shade or two shades lighter than your skin tone

How to do it:

1. Start with your foundation routine as usual (Always use a primer or moisturizer before).

2. Next, apply concealer under the eyes then blend it out.

3. After blending, apply a generous amount of translucent powder under the eye area and on your chin, cheekbones and forehead, and let it sit for five to 10 minutes. As the powder sits, it works with your skin’s natural heat to melt the concealer into your face, filling in any creases and lines. This should allow the foundation and concealer to set for that extra radiant effect. You can also use a wedge sponge and dampen it with a setting spray if you like (But this is not a must).

4. When time is up, use short flicking motions to sweep away the powder with a blush brush.

5. Congrats, you are baked now!

–   You will get a creaseless and pore-less finish
–   no oily-skin breakthrough (the matte finish lasts for hours)
–   offers very high coverage
–   it is perfect to cover acne, acne scars or enlarged pores

–   Baking is not for everyday! If you do it too often, it may clog your pores
–   not suitable if you have very dry skin with little wrinkles
–   it is time-consuming
–   If you like a natural look, this will seem out-of-place
