Are you tired of expensive anti-dandruff shampoos that don’t work? Well, then you should definitely try Listerine - It works!

Listerine is no longer just for fresh breath! it can be used as an effective cure for dandruff! Amazing, right?
It sounds strange, but initially Listerine was developed as a cure for dandruff. In 1879 it also was advertised for its germicidal properties and used to clean wounds, soothe insect bites, and to treat fungal infections such as athlete's feet. There are very good reasons why it may be effective. It does contain essential oils like menthol, thymol, methyl salicylate and eucalyptol. These ingredients have antiseptic and anti-fungal effects. Methyl salicylate also has an anti-inflammatory, cooling action wherever it's applied – so it’s perfect for soothing an itchy scalp.

What you need:

–   Listerine (for best results, use the traditional, orange/yellow colored Listerine)
–   Water
–   A Spray bottle

How to do it:

1. Fill a spray bottle with half Listerine and half water, mix it well.

2. After you’ve washed your hair, spray the mixture directly onto your scalp while your hair is still damp.

3. Let the mixture sit on your scalp for 5 minutes, then wash it out with water. Your scalp will feel clean and refreshed AND will be dandruff free.

You can also use Listerine as a final rinse after shampooing/conditioning. Mix 1/2 cup of Listerine with 1/2 cup of water and apply to towel dried, clean hair, pouring it as close to the scalp as possible. Rub it in with your fingertips, leave it for about 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

Note: Don’t use Listerine on areas of broken or very irritated skin, because Listerine itself may have a drying effect. Plus, it contains alcohol, which will sting. So, wait until any cuts or broken skin heals before you try this trick.
